1. Overview

The short version: Kid Memory Capsule stores your child's memories — photos, drawings, voice notes — only on your device. They never touch our servers. We never see them. Ever.

Kid Memory Capsule ("KMC", "we", "us", or "our") is developed by Dr. Zee, MD. This Privacy Policy explains how KMC handles information when you use our mobile application.

Kid Memory Capsule is designed for parents to preserve and celebrate their children's memories. We built it with a privacy-first, local-only architecture. Your child's photos, voice recordings, and drawings live on your device — not our servers.

2. Data We Collect

KMC collects the following data locally on your device only. This data is never transmitted to our servers.

Photos & Images

Photos you capture or import to create memories are stored exclusively in your device's local storage. Photos are never uploaded to any cloud server by Kid Memory Capsule.

Voice Recordings

Voice notes you record for memories are stored locally on your device only. They are never transmitted or processed on external servers.

Drawings

Drawings created by your child within the app are stored as image files locally on your device. They are never uploaded to any server.

Memory Metadata

Titles, captions, dates, and tags you add to memories are stored in a local SQLite database on your device.

Child Profile Information

Your child's name and birthday (used for milestone tracking and graduation capsule features) are stored locally on your device only.

Purchase Information

If you purchase a KMC Premium subscription, payment is processed through Apple App Store. We use RevenueCat to verify subscription status. RevenueCat may receive a randomized device identifier for purchase validation. No payment card details are accessed by KMC or Dr. Zee, MD.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

Your child's photos, voice recordings, and drawings never leave your device. We have no access to them.

No account or registration required
No name, email, or personal identifiers collected
No advertising data or behavioral profiles
No selling of data — we will never sell, rent, or trade your data
No third-party analytics SDKs that track behavior

4. AI-Generated Letters

Important: When generating an AI letter, only a text description is sent to OpenAI — never photos, recordings, or drawings.

Kid Memory Capsule offers an optional feature that generates a heartfelt letter from parent to child using AI (powered by OpenAI's GPT-4o model).

When you request an AI letter, KMC sends only text to OpenAI — specifically, your child's first name, age, and a brief text description of selected memories. No photos, voice recordings, or drawings are ever sent to OpenAI.

OpenAI processes this text to generate the letter and does not retain it for training purposes under their API data usage policy. For details, see OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy.

The AI letter feature is entirely optional. You can use all other features of Kid Memory Capsule without it.

5. Third-Party Services

RevenueCat

Used solely to manage and verify in-app subscription status. RevenueCat may receive a device-level identifier for subscription validation. No health, photo, or personal data is shared with RevenueCat. RevenueCat Privacy Policy

OpenAI (optional, AI Letters feature only)

Text-only descriptions are sent when generating AI letters (see Section 4). No photos, audio, or drawings are ever transmitted. OpenAI Privacy Policy

6. Data Storage & Security

All memories, photos, recordings, drawings, and profile data are stored in your device's local storage (SQLite database and file system). This means:

Your data is accessible only on the device where KMC is installed
Deleting the app permanently removes all stored data
We cannot recover your data if your device is lost — because we never had it
Data is protected by your device's native OS security

We recommend enabling device-level passcode or biometric authentication to protect your child's memories from unauthorized access.

7. Children & COPPA

Kid Memory Capsule is designed for parents to use on behalf of their children — not for children to use directly.

Kid Memory Capsule is a tool for parents and guardians. The app is operated by and intended for adults (parents/guardians) aged 18 and over. Children do not create accounts or interact with the app independently.

In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13
All data entry and use of KMC is performed by the parent or guardian
Children's photos, drawings, and voice recordings are stored only on the parent's device and are never transmitted to our servers
We do not use children's information for advertising or profiling

If you believe a child under 13 has independently used this app and provided personal information, please contact us at support@kidmemorycapsule.com and we will take immediate action.

8. Your Rights

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control at all times:

Access: All your data is always available within the app
Deletion: Delete individual memories or delete the app to remove everything
Portability: Export features (PDF memory book) are available in-app

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide notice within the app. Continued use of Kid Memory Capsule after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
